Zagreb, 3 October 2025 — The nZEBRA project took another step forward in advancing sustainable construction across Europe with the successful organisation of a stakeholder meeting held on 2 October 2025 at the headquarters of HEP in Zagreb.
The event, hosted by HEP ESCO, one of the project partners, brought together key stakeholders from the energy, construction, and public sectors to discuss the latest developments in nearly zero-emission buildings (nZEB) and zero-emission buildings (ZEB) standards in Croatia and the European Union.
In his opening address, Željko Jelačić, Director of HEP ESCO, underlined the importance of sustainable building practices and cross-sector collaboration:
“Projects like nZEBRA are crucial for shaping the future of construction in Croatia and across Europe. By working together, we can accelerate the transition towards more energy-efficient, environmentally responsible buildings.”
The meeting programme included presentations on nZEB and ZEB standards, sustainable construction practices, and successful case studies from across Europe presented by Pablo Baigorria Kobylinski - project manager at CREARA. A lively panel discussion explored the implementation of the EPBD Directive and the challenges associated with meeting ambitious building energy performance targets.
As part of its role in the project, HEP ESCO is actively contributing to nZEBRA’s mission through the development of training programmes for students and professionals, knowledge exchange initiatives, and the promotion of innovative solutions in the field of energy efficiency. By fostering cooperation among stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, the company is helping to strengthen the ecosystem supporting sustainable building transitions.
The event was held in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person and online participation, and successfully engaged a wide range of experts and institutions.
Our project's final stakeholder meeting will take place in Halmstad in Sweden next summer. Stay tuned for more information!
