On the 24th of January, we celebrated International Education Day – a day that reminds us of the transformative power of education to shape a sustainable and inclusive future. Aligned with this vision, the nZEBRA team is thrilled to announce the launch of our first-ever nZEBRA Summer School, set to take place from June 9th to 13th in Hamburg (organised by the Hamburg University of Technology). This transformative event is designed to bring together Master’s andPhD students as well as technical professionals from the energy and building sectors to explore the cutting edge of nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB) and Zero Energy Building (ZEB) concepts.

Why Attend the nZEBRA Summer School?

The summer school aims to pilot and test the nZEBRA blended learning course with participants from diverse backgrounds. By immersing attendees in a rich learning environment, we aim to foster innovation and creative problem-solving in sustainable building practices.

Learners will be introduced to the following modules:

·      Climate resilience: Adapting buildings to climate change

·      Circular economy: Resource efficient energy and materials for reduced carbon footprint

·      Energy Buildings: Energy management and production

·      Smart buildings: Modern technologies and system integration

·      Buildings and energy: indoor climate, heating, cooling and ventilation systems

·      Green construction: Life cycle analysis of buildings

This intensive programme features challenge-based and problem based learning scenarios, meticulously prepared by leading academic staff and professors.Attendees will have the unique opportunity to:

·      Dive deep into nZEB and ZEB concepts within the building environment.

·      Collaborate on assignments, focus groups, and brainstorming sessions.

·      Engage in in-depth discussions and develop creative solutions to real-world problems.

·      Analyse complex data and present their findings in a supportive yet challenging environment.

Two Formats for Maximum Flexibility

The summer school will be delivered in two formats:

·      Online sessions, ensuring accessibility.

·      In-person workshops, allowing for hands-on experience and networking opportunities.

Both formats emphasise not just technical expertise but also soft skills like collaboration, teamwork, proactivity, and participation, all of which are essential for career advancement in the energy and building sectors.

How to Participate

Participation in the summer school is highly selective, with limited spots available to ensure an immersive and impactful experience. Those who wish to join the second summer school in Halmstad can express their interest directly to Evdokia Bairampa at evdokia@threeoclock.co.

A Sneak Peek Before June

To kick off the excitement, we will host a pre-summer school webinar in the spring. This webinar will offer an overview of the summer school’s objectives and structure, insights into the key learning scenarios and expected outcomes and a platform to address questions and connect with fellow participants.

Stay tuned for more details about the webinar and registration process in the coming months!

We can’t wait to welcome you to the nZEBRA Summer School and work together to shape the future of sustainable building.
